Foster Child Challenge

Credit to PhDSimmer (https://twitter.com/PhDSimmer) for creating a point system Foster Child Challenge that was inspired by SimLady36 https://simlady36.wordpress.com/oster-child-challenge-rules/

This one has slight alterations to the two versions above, and is designed similar to the structure from Emily's Foster Home Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/EmilysFosterHomeSims4)

The Foster Challenge

Your objective is to have one or two young adult sims raise as many happy foster children as they can throughout their lives. Points are up for grabs (if you want to track them)! Remember it's all about the quality of your adopted children's lives not just the quantity you adopt!

Rules

Your Sims:

  • Create one or two young adult sims known as your caretaker(s). They can be any gender and be occult sims if you wish. They can be friends, married, in a relationship or be related in any way you like.

  • If you choose one caretaker, they are the stay-at-home caretaker, they must have the family orientated trait and one of the family aspirations, other traits are your choice.

  • The second caretaker may have a career, and have any aspiration and traits you like.

  • Only one of your caretakers can get a job, the other can earn money from home (gardening, fishing, painting, writing, programming etc).

  • The caretakers cannot have any children of their own.

  • Move your caretakers into an empty lot (any size or location) and set the family funds to $50,000.

  • Build a house on the empty lot, download a house from the gallery or buy an existing house. Use as much of the $50,000 as you wish but no more money cheats are allowed after this. Remember you have bills to pay that will come around soon!

Game Play:

  • Play the game on normal life span and a maximum of 8 sims per household (including pets).

  • The only sims allowed to live in the household are the caretakers and their foster children (you may also have pets and a live in butler if you wish).

  • Adopt as many babies, toddlers, children and teens as you want throughout your caretakers lives. You can create them yourself, adopt in game or download from the gallery. You may also wish for a child with the wishing well.

  • If you adopt over the phone it costs $1000 in the game so for fairness you must take $1000 off your household funds if you add a toddler, child or teen from the gallery or create your own in CAS. You do not have to pay $1000 if you get a child from the wishing well as your wish has come true!

  • Remember to "Adopt as care dependent" for each foster child, as this will enable your caretaker to act as parent.

  • You may give yourself a weekly payment from social services per foster child (but if you want to make things more difficult then don't do this). I recommend: $100 per baby and toddler, $150 per child and teen

  • All traits and aspirations of adopted children must be chosen at random unless pre-decided (i.e. those from the gallery or over the phone).

  • You may change the name of adopted children and edit their appearance in CAS when they age up but do not edit traits or aspirations.

  • Do not use cheats to prolong your caretakers lives, but you may use in-game rewards and cow plant milk.

  • Do not bring back sims from the dead with cheats, but you are allowed to plead with the grim reaper and use the wishing well.

  • Do not use cheats that will benefit you over other plays (e.g. for money, skills, career promotions).

  • You must move out the adopted children once they become a young adult.

  • If one caretaker dies before their time then you may chose one of your young adult foster children to take over their position.

  • The challenge ends when the original caretakers have died (or if you get bored once they become elders) or if social services take any children away from your household at any time.

  • You may age up a baby early once you get the notification says its nearly their birthday - not before.

  • You may age up a toddler early if they max 3 skills.

  • You may age up a child early if they have an A grade and have completed at least ONE aspiration.

  • You may age up a teen early if they have an A grade or are at the top of a teen job and have at least a B grade.

Optional Pack Challenges:

  • Seasons - Enroll Children in Scouts and earn the rank of Llamacorn Scout before they become Young Adults (this crosses over into Teen age)

  • Get Famous - Enroll Children in the Drama activity and have them reach the top level before they become Young Adults (this crosses over into Teen age)

  • Get Famous - Starting from Child age, you may begin a Foster Child's venture into fame, however you must use the household funds, no cheats, to purchase objects used to gain fame (Video Recorder, Streaming Drone, etc.)

  • Parenthood - Have your foster child reach at least three positive character value traits before they age into Young Adult. Keep in mind they fluctuate frequently, so check them right before you age them up!
